How to adjust height of beam (fitted with weld in adjusters)

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by illzlee, Jul 19, 2018.

  1. Sick of bouncing on the front end, need to raise the van as radiator underneath is quite low too...

Front beam is fitted with weld-in ‘foksy’ type adjusters, is it just a case of undoing the nut and prying the clamp over by one or two teeth?

If it’s under lots of spring tension is there a risk it twangs off and hits me in the face?

Sorry if this has been asked before - I’ve tried searching the forum but not found anything detailed

  2. Support van on jack/stands - when you undo the nut it wont go anywhere as the wheels will be on the deck.

Jack up the van and the adjuster will move - it might take some persuading but the tension in the beam should bring it round. You can then tighten and re-jack and lower back down

Unless the adjusters have been welded so that you can only go lower.

  4. I’ll take a look where the adjuster bolt is sat before I undo anything

    Cheers all

  5. True - you'd like to think that the PO set the maximum height at the original and then allowed adjustment down....

  6. Slight success today, went from 265mm clearance

    Up to 330mm

Right pain of a job, only the lower beam adjuster moved. The upper one seems completely stuck.

Realised I’ve got short kyb shocks aswell which proved a headache to get more travel. Gonna order some original shocks front and back and get her nose in the air some more!
