  1. the crank pulley on my engine is stuck on. obviously when i put the socket on it turns the engine. i tried sticking a screwdriver through the hole in the pulley and resting it against the block then doing it.. but no luck.

i need to get it off to geth the bottom tinware off.

    any ideas?

  2. You will need to stop the crank turning to get the pulley bolt undone or use a impact gun
Once the bolt is out you'll need a pulley puller to get the pulley off

  3. Get your fan belt nice and tight, then stick a screwdriver into slot on the alt pulley, against the alt case. Hopefully, this'll stop the crank pulley turning as well, and you'll be able to undo the pulley nut. The nut shouldn't be done up that tight. If it is, you'll have to find some other means of locking the crank.

You'll likely need a three-legged puller to get the pulley off, around the outside edge. If you're careful, it won't bend. You'll need a small socket poked down the crank hole.

  4. will any heat or lube in any areas help?

forgot to mention, theres no belt on there, it did have one on, but when i first tried to get the puley off i held the belt and it snapped. it had loads of wear in it and was generally weakened by sitting in a field for 4 years.

  5. Could try sticking the van in gear with the handbrake on.

  10. ^^ whs ^^ plus the shock treatment though nothing bigger than a 2lb hammer, you dont want to crack the casing.

  11. Sweet, how does that flywheel locking tool work? I had a butchers on ebay. £13 posted so i think ill invest in one.

oh and is it a standard thread or reverse thread on the bolt? just to be 100% sure. im assuming its standard

  12. Its a nut and bolt, so just pop it in one of the gearbox mount holes, do it up, then undo your bolt :)
