Because i love the ritual of opening anything and opening a new can of paint excites not only the mind but the senses aswell The smell everytime i open a can of enamel reminds me of melting wax crayons on cast iron radiators as a kid That memory trip back is worth the effort on its own
I love the smell of tar and creosote so much so when I went to art school a lot of my work ad this in the medium I agree with the above mate
Woke up with a banging headache this morning as paradox left a new can of paint open in the kitchen last night. Hopefully the ibuprofen will kick in soon.
He was obviously enjoying the smell a little too much. Is he on the kitchen floor, knocked out with the fumes?! Hope your head feels better soon.
I too have a liking for creosote as it reminds me of my dad who used to come home quite often stinking of the stuff. Another weird smell from my childhood is chicory as we used to have a chicory factory in the next town - no smell like it but who uses chicory these days?
A green house with loads of gorgeous smelling tomatoes reminds me of my grandads brother "uncle graham" as he used to grow the most delicious toms.... looove the smell of vine ripened tomatoes... Yum
Love the smell of creosote too. Haven't done it for a while but I couldn't walk past a newly creosoted fence without stopping and smelling it. It doesn't bring back any memories or anything, I'm just a bit odd I guess .
I also like the smell of rain hitting hot tarmac it reminds me of the seemingly never ending school summer holidays as a lad
Bonfire night Grandads scarf ( which i still have in a bag ) sugerbeat factory in autumn - a local thing after the rain
Love the smell off fresh tar, love it when you can smell it when the roofers are doing a flat roof... I hate the smell off Farts in school. Most come from me.
Fresh cut grass and the smell of warm fresh bread when you go into tescos then come out with a cold loaf!!!! How does that work? I reckon they have bottles of fresh bread smell and pour it into the air conditioning!!!!
