Following on from an associated thread, I have suffered from two phobias for years..... Russian dolls make me really Ill (cant even look at them) and miniature furniture makes me come out in a cold sweat. You'd be surprised how much of it there is around. Disclosures made, supportive remarks expected....... Yeah right
I used to be scared of spiders. Now I am not and quite like them. I started giving them names and the fear disappeared. Its a bit hard to be scared of colin the spider. Or Geoff.
I have rouble with elevators. I have to 'access my rationality' when i go in them. I know exactly how they work and how safe they are but still. Once I did have a problem with a lift, doors closed out of sequence. Wouldn't open again until someone called the lift 5 minutes latter. Even though I'd worked out exactly what was going wrong with the control gear still freaked out, cold sweat etc. Phobias are fascinating, there's even a phobia of phobias, Phobophobia! Cheers s
i work with a lady who freaks at 5 pence pieces - she purposely buys more than she needs to ensure that she doesnt get any in change. I also used to work with someone who couldn't cope with oranges.
