Unsure, I think you are right they are micro buses and the late bay ones are full length sunroof based. I think Westfalia weld in a strengthening bar just behind the slider more for the bed than to strengthen the van.
Ours is a 77 Campmobile, ex California, it’s definitely not a panel van conversion. It’s nothing special, it’s only got the sink and cool box rather than cooker etc
See I think it's reasonable to conclude that Westfalia carried on with converting microbuses....am wondering what the latest UK ones were, I think 1976.
That seems plausible. I’ll have a look through my photos n see what UK westies I have photos of & what year they are
As an owner of a twin slider panel van conversion...I reckon it would sell better if he advertised it as exactly that...he's done himself no favours putting westfalia in there..we all know they're overrated anyway
He's done himself no favours cutting a bloody great hole in a twin sliders roof if its not been braced properly!!
A late Westy roof is a proper pressed panel with reinforcement, drain channel. Made for the job. Thats one reason Westys are the best. No tin opener or chisel to make the hole its a proper finished panel
I don’t have a very good pic of mine but you can see the bracing between the B, C and D pillars and the pressed turn down all around the opening in the roof panel.
I agree - I assumed it was a sunroof one - but looking at those, they seem to have the hole come further forward (hard ot tell what's original tbh).
