Indicator location. Not sure but did 67 bugs have upright headlight mounts?

  3. Yes, upright, but only for the US market. You're quite correct in saying European Bugs had sloping wings until the 68 model year.

Upright headlights were mandated by California's car safety rules, as I understand it.

There's another slightly more subtle sloped wing to upright wing transition that was unique to US 67's and soon became standard after that. Any 67 Bug with replacement wings, as many do have, looks odd to me now, it's one of those things you just can't unsee, once you know it's there :hattip:

The old wings were after market pattern parts, I would guess at a front end knock some time in the last 54 years, the 'new' ones have been reworked to match original spec :)

Mine has got slopers, with the skinny indicators, which I think is what it left the factory with. I can’t be certain obviously, but I do have photos of it from years ago, before it was restored, and it had slopers on it then.

  5. If it's a Euro, that would be right, of all the 67's, only the US ones had upright wings.

  13. I just realized most folk without 67 Beetle OCD issues won't know why I got so excited about the new wings? Well...apart from them being nice and shiny and not rusty at the edges, oh, and a matching pair too.

Here it is, spot the difference ;)

I need a little bit more of a clue Andrew

  16. Really? I don't believe you, Paul. Zed called it ;)

  17. Hahahaha, the wings needed doing anyway, they always take a battering on a Bug. Getting original wings style was a bit more expensive, I grant you, but I traded the welding for a set of racing semi slicks I wasn't going to use and were death trap in the wet, especially with a powerful engine out back.

OEM wings, even remakes, will always add value to the car; it's all about the details :hattip:

The little silver things I guess, I thought there may have been something huge that I'd missed lol

  19. Yes, they're the horn grills :)

Well, the wings themselves are 'new' too, and they are fairly large.
