Anyone know why I was reluctant to bid? It's an AS41 too! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-split-...yMpzajnQzgehfdRH1yZoY%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
You're either familiar with that particular engine and know it's f*cked or it's a crappy old single port that would make a nice base for a glass topped table, assuming you spent several weeks cleaning it up?
I bet he sold it to the guy that's passing it on...."Yeah mate....it's out of a Mexican Porsche"..... the Cad!
Exactly same number as the universal magnesium case but it's a crppy single port that have loads of heating issues.
Nowt wrong with single port heads on a bus. I'd doubt it's a "modern" universal case - I can't see the T3 filler hole. AS41 alloy was used on loads of stuff. The real peril of eBay engines is that you don't know what state the engine's in - may have loads of endfloat and be complete scrap. Always usful to ask why it was removed in the first place.
and an unknown quantity...£51 for the case alone would be a steal assuming it was in good nick internally...the seller obviously has plenty of experience, considering he's off-loading spares to make room for more stuff...if he knows his onions, he knows how much a good case will fetch, so it begs the question, why no realistic reserve price?
