I have it in my head that its true , why you must always have the mark on the dizzy going to number 1 spark plug
You can cheerfully forget about it . Early type 1s cooled no 3 cylinder after the air had passed over the oil cooler, so they got hotter. VW tried to bodge it by slightly retarding no 3 ignition on the dissy cap. Doesn't apply to more recent stuff, tho'
because the offset tooth on the dizzy dog lines up with drive and this puts the rotor pointing at no 1 cylinder tdc...it's just any easy way to reference the spark timing. Although i've forgotten how many times i've put the plug leads in the wrong order
Theres no graphs in the bentley dude but there is a large chart It woulde be best if someone could scan it for you as it lists 15 distibutors Its on page 75 of the bentley
@paradox - when you say page 75 - what do you mean (and dont say page 75 as you know thats not how it works!
