Alright gents thought I would attempt to re-key a chrome tailgate lock I bought a while ago I've read the Chrisradioman tutorial a few times but it's not going to plan. taken off the screw and latch but it doesn't appear to have a retainer spring. I've tried to pull out the barrel but it doesn't come out, any ideas? Cheers
Right I found this tiny screw hiding Took it out and the barrel still won't come out Surely someone on here has rekeyed a tailgate lock? What am I doing wrong?
did you sort this in the end? I've just dissassembled mine. there is a retaining ring at the rear of the lock you have to remove, this holds in a plate just under the hole in your last pic the plate can be a bit jammed in, so plenty of penetrating oil, and might need to prise it out the whole lock should then slide out exposing the grub screw
