Looking for a retro looking sun canopy

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by DriftingBear, May 11, 2013.

  1. I'm after sun canopy but would prefer something retro looking. The only one I can find is this one, but I just can't justify spending nearly £160 on it!

I don't have the time to attempt to make my own. Does anybody know anywhere I might find something similar?

    Thanks :)

Show a local seamstress or upholsterer the picture and see what they can come up with. We made ours fit into fig 8 van clips by simply sewing a thick cord into the hem that fits to the van. The aluminium poles should be easy enough to source. I should think £30 for material and £30 - £40 to get it made up.

  6. Thanks for the replies. I might have a go at combining the ikea canopy with some washing line props, adding some retro edging and see what happens! After making our curtains it seems I'm actually quite handy on the sewing machine!

I'm glad you said that Majorhangover
If I'd said that, it'd sound like I was having a shot at British weather from a still sunny & warm Australia :D

  10. I'm thinking positive! The plan is to take advantage of any sunny days we have here this year and jump in the van and go. I'll take my brolly. :)
