Malaga Interior, I think

Hi gang, I have for sale what I believe to be a Westfalia Malaga interior, or most of it. It is unusual for several reasons so I have been told. One is that it`s a genuine RHD Westfalia interior whereas most were lefties, apparantly it`s a one year only but I`m not sure,, 74 was the year given to me, and secondly it`s supposedly the only cooker arrangement where you could fix an optional extra of a crumpet cooker / overhead grill via an attachment at the rear of the hob, another rocking horse stuff item is actually finding one of these attachments and I didn`t even know they existed until it was pointed out to me last month , I don`t have one by the way.
For Sale is, The full width rock and roll bed complete with rear bed cushion and two orange side cushions / arm rests. The bed has not been cut out for speakers.

The cooker unit and you can see the brass doover whacky that the grill bit connects to, and I didn`t even know what it was for

Along with this is the wardrobe unit that sits behind the drivers seat, this also has a stainless sink unit with tap and a water container and there is a motor in this unit as well. The wiring that comes with it looks pretty naff. Another unit sits to the right of this with an upholstered cushion on top that goes up to the bed and at the same height. This was for gas bottle storage originally so I`ve beeen told. Under the cooker is a cool box that you can just see in the last pics the cool box works very well with its magnetic strip closer, it also has a drip tray type shelf and one slide in shelf that is plastic coated wire. I have the original table but am at a loss to know where the leg is, even though I have been moving the bloody thing around the garage for the last five years as it was always in the way, now I can`t find it even after turning the garage inside out.
The overall condition is quite good for an interior of this age, but does show some fading to the rear cushions.
Bad Bits,,, the retainer strap for the coolbox has lost its pop rivet, two or three of the handles are broken, bits of laminate are chipped / split, not convinced the tap is the original. The cushions have some small marks on them. The bottom bracket for the table leg may be the wrong one as well. I can`t get in the van for a while to take any more pics as the place is in uproar from too many started projects all over the place.
This is in Kingswood Bristol near the ring road, my mobile is 07723069937. I would like Twelve hundred pounds for these items. I will however not sell them to any one that is not prepared to come and see them first hand, also I will not even entertain posting / couriering/ or even pidgeon posting them. I am open to offers but only offers made face to face whilst looking at the stuff. If I get twelve hundred I`d frankly be amazed, but I have to put a price on them and I don`t got the foggiest. If anyone bothers to come and view, I am a reasonable person and would much prefer this went somewhere where it would be appreciated and not sold on for profit.

    Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,Ta for looking peeps

Your description is correct to my knowledge - I take it by the earlibay door and what looks like a Devon Louvre Window this isn't in the original Westy? Shame to remove it if it is as there are only around 15 RHD's left, and probably none as original as yours.

Hi Malc,, how is it mate ? Yes that is my garage and if you look carefully in the pics ,, you`ll see a pair of drawers and that is my usual interior along with my infamous / famous sea chest cool box,, that`s it and that`s all I need

This interior that I have for sale, came with my van about five or more years ago. It was bolted in roughly but I don`t believe it was ever completely fitted and working in my bus. What you can`t tell from those pics are the fact that this bus was actually a panel van that had been converted to a windowed panel before I got it. During my resucitaion of this little bus, I cut out the panel bits and installed genuine windows and frames on both sides and have located a couple of nice RHD sliding doors, my new one is even better than this one.;) It has a sliding window in the sliding door for a very important safety reason and I didn`t realise it was a Devon, so usefull knowledge. It`s there so I can slide the window open when camping and boil the kettle to have my first coffee in bed, as I like to do when camping :D
What do you think for a price then guys ? am I a million miles out ? I just do not know what it`s worth. I would love to see this go back into something where it belongs, that`s possibly worth more than money to me .

  8. Price wise I have no idea ... It's a fab interior and one of my favourites .......is it true that RHD ones are that rare ?
I bought a LHD Malaga interior or at least the cooker and wardrobe unit a couple of years ago for the hob and broke the rest ........

Rear hinge RHD Malagas are 1974 only, the only ones I've seen are on an M or N reg, with one on a T I think.

My understanding is that Malaga's were Euro spec only, and we are the only RHD country in that territory.

Additionnally VW stopped importing them that year, so they were special order only through dealers that would sell you a Devon for a lot less (one reason why UK rear hinge Westy's are rare).

Regarding price, I guess there needs to be someone that really wants one, it's a shame but I recon you'll end up breaking it.

Love what your saying gang, yes I would love to keep it,, but it`s just not me or my style. Look if no one wants it, it can live in my garage and come out to play occasionally when the suns out . Someone somewhere will want it. The bed is so comfy ,, I don`t mind if I keep it, I`ve used it for four or five years anyhow, the rest of it uses up the space that i use for keeping my Stellas cold. When I sell it, I`ll haver to buy a Rusty Lee anyhow. Spose I could sell without the bed,, couldlll I

I think the other replies are testament to the ``Rarity' ' of this interior. This could go one of two ways,,, a filthy rich Texan may want it but highly unlikely as it`s RHD,, or it`s so rare that no one wants it and it`ll live happily ever after in my garage along with all the other stuff that I`ve bought and not got around to fitting :gnome: and I keep prodding them and saying " I`ll fit that soon":rolleyes: , but hey ho, at least we know exactly what it is now, worst case scenario it`ll have to go onto VZI,,

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Now that could be interesting `Rare ' ;)

I couldn`t agree more, and that`s why it`s up for sale. £1200 Hhhmmm, I had to put something on there as I had no idea as to what it`s worth so what would you give me for it ??? I really would like to shift the cooker / cooler unit and the wardrobe / sink unit and the little connecting unit down the side. I really would like to keep my rock and roller cus it`s great with my monster size coolbox and that`s all i need .

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Make me a bid,, I might surprise you :D
