Near side braking light issue

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Osbert, May 5, 2024.

  1. Near side Brake light not working. Changed the bulb….. still not working. Off side is working fine.

Do near side and off side work on a different fuse?…… it seems a bit odd to me.

Do the rear lights both work?

Loom comes down offside then links across the top of the engine bay to nearside so likely a break in the wire feed between lights!
Most likely near the spade connector at one side or the other.

I seem to remember from fiddling with the brake lights last year that they were on separate fuses.

If your bus was originally American spec, the brake light wiring originally goes as two wires from the indicator switch, and one wire going to the indicator switch from the switch on the master cylinder, as the brake lights double in the good ol USA as rear indicators..
It then gets rewired by somebody in the UK to disconnect the brake wiring from the indicator switch and separate the circuits to make it UK spec with separate brake and indicator lights.
That rewiring may have been knocked.
