no start!?

  1. On the way to camper jam we stopped for fuel on the A5. After filling up I turned the ignition but nothing! Not a murmer. Fortunately a wonderful couple pulled in with a T5 and lept out to lend a hand with a bump start. No problem with starting then! After parking at CJ, I switched off the engine and started it again without problem. And again three times today. So, my question is, what would cause the seemingly lack of 12v to the starter motor?

Poor connection to spade on starter, or old resistive wiring to same. Known as the "hot start issue" and cureable simply with a relay - do a search. :)

Seems to happen more to T4 engines in summer, I think because when the heating is switched off it vents straight at the starter which doesn't help.

  4. Thanks Zed...I'll check out the thread. Will get under it this weekend to check terminals.
