Brand new fuel pump makes a noise when sat in traffic ticking over . rev the engine and noise stops engine runs ok , drives ok , do you think it is A under pressure because it cant clear enough fuel B being starved of fuel c Just no good
Its normall It will be the pump pumps all the time so at a standstill it will be pumping against the carb as soon as you start moving the noise will ease as you are using the fuel
Its an FAI automotive EFP1.the details are max flow 1.5L, (0.33 gallons) operating pressure varies with demand 1-4psi and static pressure (no flow) 4-5psi do you think i need a pressure regulator?
No you shouldn't need a reg... it'll be an solenoid operated diaphragm pump, hence the chattering!! What carb(s) are you running it on?
They'll be fine without a reg!! The OG mech pump can produce up to 8psi if memory serves me correct!!
thanks for that paul . i was getting worried that the pump might damage its self ,only the last two pumps both made that noise, the first when it was packing up getting progressivly worse until it didnt pump anymore , and the second the noise got faster and faster untill it sounded like a sewing machine on steriods , i reckon because the filter had water in it thus blocking the filter and the pump was running dry
well the lightest one I can see is 5.5psi... this is what I generally use http://www.coolairvw.co.uk/Item/Sho...Electric_Rotary_Fuel_Pump_-OB-3.5Lbs-CB-.html
