I had one too, 6N 16v... great little car!! No trouble until I got to near 155k and the heater matrix packed up. I traded in for a Mazda 6 which sprung a water leak and blew the head gasket.... short lived experience away from German cars!
I went to the polo once, I fell over after being overserved in the Moet et Chandon pavilion. Ms.T was mortified.
