Oil pressure relief valve

  1. Got these the other day http://m.vwheritage.com/productDetails.cfm?iItemID=99931
to try and lift the oil pressure in my engine
I Removed the old ones both pistons where stuck in .
when removed I replaced with the new ones as they came out long spring to the one closest the oil pump
According to vw heritage website it should be the other way round
    So which is right ?

  5. I read this after reading this thread

Seems to be saying that the oil pressure relief valve can remain open after warmup and affect temps due to less oil pushed round the cooler.
I'd be interested to know if stronger springs have much effect on pressures and temp.

  6. Crikey ,those American bus dudes certainly do not cut corners when evaluating a product.

  7. It'll have a similar (although opposite) effect as running a bigger geared oil pump... another reason for not messing with VWs design!! :)
