    Electronic Ignition.
I want to put an electronic ignition into the camper.
    It's a Type IV 2 litre.
    Suggestions please.

  3. 123 is very good but pricey. There's a U Tube video comparing it to points and a petronix kit . Accuspark SVDA is also good and a bit cheaper, they are for sale on ebay all the time. Ebay Item: 180791595727. It's true what they say about getting rid of the flat spot the 009 dissy produces, the Accuspark SVDA is alot better on acceleration when pulling off.

  10. the maplin's Velman kit is cheap and easily switch able back (costs around a tenner)

i have friends that have run the kit for many thousands of miles with no problems

  11. VW fitted a electronic dizzy on type 25`s if you can find one , i run a petronixs but dont expect it to change a lot as it will be the same as a well set up points ... 123 is expensive but gets a few mixed reviews ... depends if you have a decent old bosch dizzy

  12. Im running an accuspark or powerspark ebay jobby and its been fine

  13. Velleman's is good (and cheap) (if you can get them in Oz). If it's just electronic ignition you want, then Pertronix (pricey) or one of the eBay equivalents.

123s are the best IMHO, but they do a lot more than just electronic ignition.

  14. Im running a t25 dissy coil etc. been on there for a long time, relieble and VW and made for your engine. No brainer!

  15. Last engine I built I bunged a powerspark unit in the dizzy... £40 for the gubbins and the coil - Bargain

  16. I bought the vac advance dizzy with module fitted to replace my 009 and im pretty sure it wasent much more money than that
I know a few people who have been running them for a long time with no problems
I have also heard of a few people having problems with them straight out of the box

  17. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

I fitted a svda accuspark the other day for someone - good value if your dizzy needs replacing anyway - £60.

  18. What did you go for in the end Terrordales?

I have a 1.6 TP and have been looking at purchasing the accuspark complete kit (vac dizzy, coil, leads, rotor arm & plugs) is there anything in this kit I should avoid / not buy?

Or is the powerspark or pertronix equipment better?

    Thanks, Robo...

Robo haven't decided yet. The bus will be going in for some work in a week or so I'll decide then.

  20. Terrordales I need to decide today as I want to get it ordered & delivered for me to install at the weekend! Tempted to go for the Accuspark complete kit for £80, they do a basic function timing light for a tenner too as I need one! My head hurts & I really don't like having to buy things twice!
