If i try to connect my laptop to the telly via a pc vga lead the sound still comes out of the laptop and not the telly and the screen is full size on the telly, if i come out of the laptop via hdmi the sound then works on the telly but the screen is probably only 3/4 size, is there any way to make the pc lead work on the telly speakers or the hdmi screen bigger?
No sound connection with VGA. HDMI, have you look at settings on TV and laptop. If TV is set to auto in picture settings set it to full or whatever yours says. I stream my stuff of PC to TV via WiFi to router then have a WD streamer http://www.ebay.com/ctg/Western-Digital-WD-TV-Live-Plus-Digital-HD-Media-Streamer-/97507552.
VGA lead is video only. Connect the headphone socket on the laptop to the Line In on the telly. You will need a jack to jack lead. HDMI does both, screen size will either be a setting on the telly or laptop. Can't help with that sorry.
ah ok i didn't mess with the telly remote - to be fair i never touch the telly remote as once the virgin box is turned on the telly turns on itself and the volume adjusts off the virgin remote, i never touch the telly remote.
Call yourself a man and you never touch the remote? I have been known to have 6 all lined up next to me to use because I can.
i'll mess with the telly remote next time i watch something - good plan on not touching the laptop settings....
Go to Start/control panel/display settings anY play with the resolution. Depending on your system you may be able to spread your desktop across both the PC screen and tv. I watch movies on the TV by dragging the video player to the TV and maximising it. You can usually set different resolutions for the PC monitor and the TV. left is on my laptop, right is on the TV. same Desktop. s
whs ^^^^ 1920x1080 is what you want if your telly is full hd. If you video card does not support that get the highest that you can and use the tv remote settings to zoom it full screen
With a vga lead yiu need a 3mm jack (male) both ends one goes in the headphone socket on the laptop one in the back of the telly this will work hdmi is much better and one lead only
Headphone to twin audio lead mate. One with the red and white plug on the end and it'll go into the back of your tv. That's what you need
Right click the speaker symbol bottom bar RHS on the craptop. Select playback devices click on the telly icon click on set default Click OK you may have to exit the aplication your on & start it again for it to take effect. Simples
