Rear Wheel Arch Closing Panel - Which Side ?

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by motorcycleemptyness, Sep 27, 2013.

  1. From the picture below can anyone identify which position this part fits in ?

I 'think' it's Offside (Drivers side) on a right hand drive .

Is the Tab bent the wrong way ? And am i right in thinking that the Tab goes against the chassis ?

My Bus came with very little to go on (apart from rust) .....

    Thanks 2013-09-27 14.44.52.jpg

  4. your right it is a near side
was looking at mine the wrong way round!!!

  5. so where does the return lip go ? facing the inside of the wheel arch or facing out ?

The return all around sticks out away from the wheel.
The small tab weld to the chassis.
The strip along the top is the first part of the wheelarch.
    Nearside.

  7. So this is what you would see if you were looking from the rear of the vehicle towards the front (as is in the picture) ?

And am i right in thinking that the top of this part sits flush with the top edge of the battery tray ? and is spot welded to it ?

Yes and yes. Originally it was part of the wheel tub and not a seperate piece.

  9. Not the greatest example. That's an offside. But the little tab goes in the wheel arch, the return faces the back, and the curve it on the side allows for the curve of the wheel arch.
