i have to do the welding on the austrialian import , ordered the bits , 2 lower steps complete .1 deformation panel . the rest of the bits ill make , i hate doing deformation panels heavey ole metal to drill out , done the inner repairs cut out the rot made up the parts seam welded them in followed with 2 coats of zinc primer , stepps drilled and cut ready to come out , owen nw with the help of neil rafferty form our local forum given me a helping hand , stable mates neil buffed all the panels to show up the spot welds
floor needs a smaller repair than i thought ] i sides of the stepps coated with zinc primer # deformation panel drilled and uts welded in to hold the bumpers , non original panel , owen nw
cheers dale , i want this done yesterday lol , worst of it done, deformation panel on next,l then steps, if i get that far the marra ill be happy cheers owen nw
am only doing the welding nothing else , the man supplied his own panels , that was part of our deal owen nw
today i cut the rest of the step off , easy enough, lol drilling cuting and linen up i tacked it in place . checked the lines , and finish welded it, i then turned to the deformation panel i had to trimm 5mm of the top edge of it as it was too big and wouldnt line up , but when trimmed it did , when welding this on i noticed smoke the bloody vw factory white foam went on fire , what a scare , lol , then i made up a new closing panel owen nw chassis moved outside the house bloody weather
done the other side now as well , 2 areas left to do , one about the size of a fag box , the other is a long stripp above the jacking point not bad but do it now when am at it, owen nw
Hats off to you for getting those awful steps fitted Owen. I only tried once and ended up mashing it up with a hammer and fitting a whole arch. They must have been made from a photo with no measurements.
i agree zed took a lot of time trimming etc , ps one was a nightmare , the profile of the 2 didint match , so i made them match 98% filler will do the rest , but am not doing it , lol owen nw
That's what I found - the two parts didn't fit together and neither fitted the bus. But you've got them looking really good for what they are - you must have some determination! I thought the lump hammer was a more fitting end for them.
last of the welding up front now done zinked seam sealed and stone chipped , i have a bit along the back panel to repair i ve just seen it so may as well do it now , owen nw in great nick deformation panel primed stone chipped i then mixed up some thinned out zinc primer and poured in th e stone chip , i then blasted the insides of the deformantion panel , with it all seam seled under neath the panel will flow everywhere and sel it all for another few years , owen nw
Holy Marmite dude-another project! Good to see you're still sporting the open-toed safety boots! Keep it up bud
