Roof light removal

Discussion in 'Camper Conversions' started by statts, Apr 25, 2014.

  1. Hi all, I've got a 75 Westy that some previous owner has stuck a roof light on (see pic). Anyone got any good ideas on how to remove it and ensure the repair is waterproof?
    Thanks in advance :)

  2. Guess the only way to handle that would be to remove it, clean the area around the hole and re fiberglass from both inside and out. Sand flat, prime, then re paint. Sounds simple when you say it fast. But I'd be more temped to keep it. Check around RV supplies shops for a suitable NON leaking replacement and refit a new one. They have some with two way fans that can draw hot air out or bring cool air in, they look great as well. I mean after all the holes already there!

  4. Thanks for the replies. It doesn't leak, I just never use and don't like it aesthetically.
