After putting this job off foe a while I now need to repair the roof to our van, as you can see it has come loose at the front and the material is creeping away from the rubber seals all around, does anyone know
    1. Anyone near Ludlow who can replace the black canvas top layer to this roof or
    2. Where can I scource the right material to do it with and and has anyone ever done this before. Van roof.jpg

  2. There are several Devon roof threads on here. I cheated and put a JK fibreglass cap on mine.

That looks okay but can it be collected inside the van as they don't ship, I wouldn't mind doing it myself if I could sort the right material
there are lots of great adhesives available nowadays

I would guess a Devon roof cap fits inside the bus resting on top of things inside. It is probably quite floppy as an unsupported thinnish fibreglass moulding. Its worth asking JK how floppy it will be , measure your roof cap and maybe make up a slighty bigger mdf panel or wooden frame to fix it to for your own shipping.

Otherwise make sure you can remove the roof sky light vent when you get to Odiham and duct tape the new cap over the old roof cap. Then fix it properly in a couple of years.;)

Mine seems to have been given a solid fibre glass cap by one of the 19 owners between 1975 and 2010. Seems to work at keeping all the rain out.

In all seriousness, what is actually involved with fitting the cap, a few nuts and bolts I guess. Take your tool box and a step ladder and fit it in the car park.

Do as @mikedjames says remove your skylight, and fit it with gaffer tape at JK, or couple of nuts/bolts with a battery drill, You wouldn't get it into the back of a bay, it's just too big.

I've recently fitted one to a friends camper - and the Heavy Duty springs they supply (twice now) aren't adequate to support the weight of the roof/roofcap :rolleyes::rolleyes: nice one JK.

so now trying to work out a gas strut solution.

@the 3 crispies has just fitted a vinyl top to his roof...
