  1. Hi all

Just started to fit new rubber seals and need some advice please... Started with tailgate. It's in put cant shut the lid...any tips? Also should I be using anything to stop them coming out? Thanks all.

  2. Used a smear of contact adhesive on mine. What sort have you bought?

  3. have you adjusted the tail gate ?

the new rubber will be a lot thicker than the squashed old rubber

if the tail gate has been adjusted in a bit in the past to try and over come the old squashed rubber it's will now need adjusting the other way

ps where did you get your rubbers as there are lots of cheap badly fitting rubbers out there

  4. Machine7.... Going to and adjust now...oh no...I thought they were all the same tbh.

  5. Well I spent hours on the tailgate and it still won't shut.....bad times. Bugger

Good tailgate seals are the squidgiest of the lot - really soft - what's yours like?
    No glue required.

  7. So where is the best place to buy rubbers?;)

  8. did you move the latch on the van ?

  9. They are very stiff rubbers..The latch is as far as it will go so stuffed on that front. Think I'm going take them back before I take the sliding door off and fit that one to find the same problem... Any thoughts?

  10. These are jet black.. The ones I took off are grey and very soft. Not sure where they came from.

The best tailgate and slider seals are approx £65 each if that helps.

Put the old ones back.

  14. Thanks mate...that does help however I paid about 45 for sliding door and tailgate.. Get what you pay for a..may get my money back and save up.

  15. Can't..they where all cut off when the van was sprayed.. Nightmare as I didn't allow for this extra spend. I did ask the chap who sprayed it to save the rubbers for the sliding door, rear hatch and tailgate. Will have to buy one a month I think.

  16. My tailgate rubber kept popping out once fitted in the same spot every time I open the door. Bugger. Just glued then in and seem fine now.

Mine were from vw heritage. They are nice and soft and keep a good seal.

  17. Hmmmm, I've got some that came with the van and was going to fit them this weekend, they're black though quite soft, perhaps I should just scrap them and buy grey ones?
PeaSoup are you around Sun or Mon?

  18. Glynn - I know Katie has a few things planned for us for the bank holiday weekend and so I'll check with her tonight and get back to you. Am sure we'll be around at some point - or at least I hope we will as I'd like some time out on the van! Will let you know later.
