  1. What an afternoon:eek: Took a toddle up to the petrol station to put a bit more fuel in for next week. Put fuel pipe in and pump wouldnt stop. Managed to get it to kick off after lota faffing, went in ta pay , girl said urr it hasnt registered , i said well what can i do?? i had about £40 worth "urrr oh can you go out and put pump back in and out please", i said its zero d n the pump is jaming on . "oh hang on a mo i think ive pressed wrong button" doh!! But this was just the start, drove back all seemed ok, reversed into drive bang , i thought marmite what have i hit, got out went round back nothing????, so reversed in and jumped out and took bits indoors. Went in the garden few mins later , betty said "i think i can smell gas or something"!!! I said smells like fuel ta me, so i looked in garage could smell it , then betty shouted out theirs fuel dripping out the bottom of the van, aaaaaaarrrr nooo pouring , think quick here barney lept in front got my fuel clamps from glove box and dived under van , well i suppose i was a bit stupid but it was very scary it was gushing and i had a near full tank. This is also another good reason to have filter under bus, i had my glasses on but got soaked in fuel clamping it up my hair was dripping so i got towel and rushed to bathroom!! it does sting a bit . PHEW!! the fuel filter had blown off:eek: now this has been on their about a year , all new codan top quality fuel hose and proper fuel clamps i must say though that alot of these newer filters are a bit naff!! WELL ive sorted it all out new filter , hose n clamps. Was thinking after that ,coming back from chilli farm on lane i had to go over a quite big branch, car coming other way and couldnt avoid it . I can only think it may have knocked the hose /filter ?? maybe??
Moral of the story always have a pair of fuel clamps handy and make sure you have your fuel filter out of the engine compartment above the gear box. And check ya clamps n filter regularly:rolleyes:.Im still very puzzled?? THIS could have been so much worse:eek:. oH AND have your fire extinguishers in the cab at the ready , betty was left to hold these bless her. Took van out tested it all seems ok but will double check everything tomorrow. Quick check with torch later too.Take care everyone, n i did this with a bU gad back n neck , n ach in b all so_O. Bettys asleep now bless er she put the sand down n washed drive down for me .
