hi all just looked for this in mech n tech could not find anything, but sure its been mentioned. MOT is on thursday, is there an easy fix to secure it ready? otherwise iam gonna take it out and secure the cables out of the way just for the test and worry bout it later
Although its now a mot failure mine passed a few weeks ago without clamps... Guess it depends on your tester.
Drill 2 holes and tighten. Job done http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b703dd47
All I did was drill two holes in the tray either side of the battery. Some nuts, washers and threaded bar with a flat bar across the top of the battery.
Yes, dead simple, like me. My MOT tester is a stickler for the rules, it's the main reason I use him. I wouldn't want a dodgy MOT on a vehicle I'm driving. He warned me last year that this rule was coming in and the battery clamps, both batteries, passed the MOT a couple of weeks ago.
The tester didn't even open the engine lid on my bus during the mot. If he had he would have seen that neither battery was secured.
my bus has just passed its test, both batteries have clamps on. one is the standard and one from halfords which is a flat bar with 2 round threaded bars through tray.. tester informed me possibly next year if you have tow bar with electrics they have to work properly, dont think ill be towing much with mine so off it comes....
I think as a first step, you should try to find out why your battery feels insecure. Unresolved childhood issues?
