    When i had my van back in the 80,s .. the cool thing to do was to put the chrome door surrounds on vans taken off a traveller from scrap yards ( which there was plenty of then ) .
    You had to cut them down a bit as the van doors are shorter ...still might have a pair knocking around ...in fact i think they are stainless steel not chrome .
    Are they OK on yours Sarah ?
    Just keep the suspension joints greased regularly particularly the swivel pin as it turns on a thread type basis .
    Keep it well greased and it lasts for ever ..if not it gets gritty and wears out and jumps out .

    I'm not sure whether it has chrome door surrounds? I'll have a look in the morning, I'm intrigued!
    I've inherited a couple of workshop manuals, but will get a Haynes too. The rear leaf springs look very rusty (only surface hopefully) so I'll have a good look underneath and learn where stuff is and things to do. I'm still learning about the camper... I must be blinkin' mad!

    haha, that would be good. But! a/ I've not got a tent anymore. b/ I'm too old to sleep on the floor even if I did have one, and c/ having driven back from Cornwall today, it was the most nerve wracking journey I've ever made, and I can't even think about anything more than a pootle to the coast for at least a few months (years / decades!)!! :D

    They sure do. I learnt that all the exterior panels were manufactured flat with each bolt having a different torque spec to create the contours. Imagine having to work that out... and that there's a football lodged in the left nostril of the one above
