My late father was a carpenter by trade and a very good one
I'm no good with wood
I still remember him telling me I couldn't knock a nail on strange straight and I'd never lined the grain up straight
As I've grown older I've learnt to love the beauty of wood but I'm scared of working with it on any fine form
I can however work better with metal and mechanical than he ever did

Ours is the same, however, I'm surprised that having survived the house being on fire earlier in the year he has taken to the spot in front of the wood burner this winter quite comfortably!!
