as someone from scunthorpe i can honestly say that i don't recognise this programme. and how fortuitous that the cameras are in the right place at the right time? lots of things stage managed and lots of people playing up to the cameras. it's as if the media want to demonise people on estates and benefits....
yeah , one glimpse of a flat screen tv and peeps will be clutching their pearls and dashing off an e-mail to the Daily Mail.
The program obviously has an agenda. There are a few human moments but it does paint the teenage children and their parents in a very poor light.
which is part of their agenda. also, most folk rarely behave 'normally' in front of a camera. that's what makes these 'reality' things total rubbish. the programme makers know this and exploit it. They don't have to pay actors and they get a product that channel 4/5 etc will buy. very cheap to make and fits in with the current political agenda. i'm waiting for the reality programme showing the bankers and politicians spending the billions they take from the tax payers (i know where i'd rather my taxes went to) but as yet no production companies have had access to make that one :/
all i know is that it's one of those 'reality' programmes showing beautiful people from that there london area. i think there was controversy over it being planned/scripted. what a shocker!
I saw a bit of the BAFTA awards last night - one of the categories was 'Reality and constructed factual ' ... is that what you're referring to Ermintrude
Ohhhh! See I don't understand all these new fangled abbreviations. In fact I mentioned the deplorable proliferation of acronyms and lamentable use of abbreviations in my last letter to the Daily Mail. Luckily we don't have any of the wrong people in Acacia Avenue, Surbiton.
didn't know they had a name for it now! but probably, yes. the skint programme calls itself 'observational' but all these progs have to be sold to be paid for and production companies are not afraid of 'pushing' the action the way they want it to go. they have many methods
