  1. Also no stupid rules as to how you park your camper / caravan / awning / tent on a pitch on campsites!

  2. Going to Paris tomorrow for a few days... looking forward to a night out in Saint-Michel. I like France, city people can be rude just like most cities but on a whole a great place. If you’re a romantic then i would recommend Paris.

  3. I'll ask my daughter for her comments tonight and let you know. She is an international HGV driver and goes there every week. She's never said anything good to me so far, but I will ask her for her comments and let you know ;) She is in Italy at the moment.

  4. Super place, especially the South. Get down to Orange!

  5. My plan is as well to buy a property and live there as and when BUT I have lots of plans and they are never fruitful

  6. I've been to France 6 maybe 7 times on my bike and love the place

  7. The same thing happened in France a few years ago too, Les Ros Bifs pushing up prices so the locals couldn't afford to buy. Loads of expats living on their UK pensions have been struggling since the £ fell (meaning they get less Euro a month to spend) so house prices in rural France where the Brits reside have fallen sharply. Add in continued rising house prices in London and people start to move again. Probably a 1 way ticket if you live in London, tough to sell up and move back when the market has left you behind.

  8. France was never my dream location ,but a excellent place to go on holiday I was always relieved to get back home ,ok we bought a place but never intended putting roots down....

Things happen ,life drags you along ,now I would never consider coming back to England to live ...

I think it is the little things like taking you empty Lenor bottle and been able to fill it up at the petrol station ,taking your car for a mot and having two months to do the repairs ,the climate, watching the sunflowers grow, been able to cycle every evening with my dogs without worry about pooper scoopers, been able to pull over in the car and pee anywhere, shaking every-ones hand and asking how they are ,this includes diy places/tips/supermarkets etc...

    It is just nice.....

  9. i hope you wash your hands before shaking....:)

oh no thats france for ya ..

  11. I did think about doing a space between the pee and the handshake but it was too late ...

  12. I am interested why you do not like the sun and chilled out living...

    1. got no passport
2.ain't seen a tenth of my own country.
    3. too far away.
    4. don't want to go.

  15. I have been a few times between work and camping and a Gite holiday.
Unfortunately everytime I went either me or other half ended up in A&E. just bad luck but we got treated so well over there.
Its a massive country, takes ages to go anywhere, but get off the Autoroutes and its another world.
Agree with all the other good comments. All the campsites have been ace. They are very family focused, even the council run sites pee on the best we have. People do take pride in their jobs and care about their environment.
We found if their English was not goo they were a little wary to speak to you but if you made the effort to speak in French to them, they meet you half way and are happy to help.
Obviously the food and drink is superb not full of chemicals and crap we put up with.
Even the darkest of backwaters will have a superb bakery with the best cakes ever.
A lot of their tourist attractions have free parking and in some cases free entry.
Even the potting shed truck stops give you the best coffee for buttons.
    Weather is better than ours.
Paris - yes forget it , hate it in the same way I like to visit London but would never live there.
Cant wait to take the van over there.
Its not a perfect country but neither is ours.
Give it a try, deffo worth a trip and you wont regret it.

true, had one in 1996 went to spain/greece/portugal hated flying sooooo bad..... used it those times but got so tense leading up to the holiday then all i could think about while there was flying back i let it run out and have zero desire to renew, don't do boats as i get sea sick real bad - once caught the ferry from torquay (or somewhere down there lol) to somewhere across the bay chucked my ring up all the way so spent about £30 on a taxi back around the coast... went on a sea trip in greece and spent the whole trip exploding out of both holes at the same time - not good........ the only saviour for me is the channel tunnel but the price of fuel to drive there then through and on to france/spain is the restriction on getting another passport.
