  1. Either splash the cash or make you own .
Lots of ways to do it depending on skill/fussy levels ,but about four years ago i had a few but not a set so they had to match ....
1/ aluminium former 15 mm thick ,mark out 18mm bigger all way round

    2/ cut out i use 16swg (1.55mm)

3/ clamp in vice between former and another piece of aluminium

4/using MALLET start forming steel over former ,working all the way along gradually , the metal on the corners will want to pucker up and will only go so far

    5/puckered up

6/ trim the corners so your not trying to loose more metal than you need to

7/ using oxy/acetylene heat steel in 2inch sections starting with corners then using your favourite plannishing hammer plannish away till the corners are smooth and you have lost the puckerd steel .

8/ heres one i did earlier

9/ i usually wait until i have TIG welded the strip down the middle till i clean them up , the sides are made bigger so you can get all the different sides from the same former

no worries, never lend your tools, you'll never get them back ... :)

  5. Nice metal working...:hattip:

    Have you made other parts..

  6. a few things .... mainly rubber overrider impact strips ,and the small aluminium fan housing flaps on type 4 motors (heritage sell these)

currently making my charge cooler for my SC project

the `HOW TO` was a few years ago

  7. Has anyone got a scanned copy of the side profile templates for these? I'd be up for having a go at making a set for my van.
