Stalling / cutting out

My 79 2L Fi Automatic has developed a problem. What do I need to check, guys?
She starts first time every time, idles ok sometimes a tad lumpy, but when I select D the revs drop and she cuts out I've found myself pressing the accelerator slightly to keep the revs up then release the handbrake.
Also, if I come to a stop at traffic lights, she cuts out if I hold her on the foot brake, but she never used to.

Suggested because you said it stalled held on the foot brake.

You were right @Zed. I had a split in a pipe taped it up, running fine again
