Hi all. My Steering wheel is cracking open. It was new about 4 years ago. It is for a 72 bay. What it happening is that on warm days, gaps are appearing in the plastic rim. Having taken the bay out again, this first hot day and it has cracked again. Has anyone else got this problem?
This is definitely a design fault then. seems there is an incompatibility issue between the steel inner and the type of plastic they are using.
Yes basically... The design of a composite wheel is not new...the execution, meaning the method of manufacture and the compatability of materials is more of the issue with reproductions. I'd look for an original on eBay or at shows, they do come up.
I have written to C & C about this again, I bought it from them. They are speaking to JK about it, as JK are the suppliers. didn't know that at the time. We shall see what the outcome is but it seems this product is pretty poor quality. Can I get a replacement steering wheel that will have a horn push and cancel the indicators? what are the options other than a SH VW one, it seems these are no longer available.
