Just been looking at the Subaru engine that will replace my 1600 TP. The sump looks very low - what is the way round this that Subaru converters have taken? Modify it or raise it?
Think a short sump goes on there but sure the scoobie boys will be along soon @baybirmingham @Baysearcher not sure who else has one I forget!
Zed I said to him that I'd ask people on here who have done it. Don't think he's particularly fazed by it, just wondering.
I've got one of these: It's a shortened sump. Yes, it means the oil capacity is less, (its not dramatically less) but I've been running this throughout this year since I got it in January, and never had a problem with it. There are other ways, for example if you look at some of the home-made solutions on VWKD, they have come up with shortened sumps that keep the capacity: Alternatively there is a company who does one of these: http://www.outfrontmotorsports.com/oil_pan.htm
Is that what we are now calling 'him'? This actually reminded me of 'him' - except at one point one of them needs to fill his nappy and threatens to run off and phone a lawyer. By the way - the Christmas Top Ten is going to be interesting - do we just say Roy Wood 'I wish it could be Christmas Everyday'?
Thanks for all your replies. I will post pics when the work starts. Must say I think it's time to forgive and forget - I know he is a bit volatile but that is just his artistic temperament.
Iv stuck with the standard sump and have had no problems. If your not going too low you shouldn't have any issues. Plus the standard sump holds more oil.
Just to close this one out - I am getting the shortened sump referred to by Baysearcher above. Thanks again
