Hi all, Well, I went to see our future bus / project this week and took a couple (4) pics, just waiting for rest on email from current owner. Been advised that this is an 1979 Executive - cant say I've heard of this - that had an oversized poptop on it in the glorious colours of brown/orange/white stripes but this was sold, the roof strengthened and a custom Paris roof has been purchased but never fitted. This was also exported to South Africa, had a steel works worth of box section welded into it and used as a school bus. Years later, brought back to the UK and had it all stripped out. Currently, unfortunately, being used as a store room for his other projects, he (owner) was going to build this as a race bus affair. He has carried out lots of work body wise but there is still a way to go so will definately be calling on the - hopefully local ish - expertise from TLB Unfortunately I am c**p with pictures / computers so at present I cant load any pics but I'll have a go later and see what transpires - if by some random twist of fate or intelligence (yeah right!) that I get it sorted then I'll stick pics on here!. My avatar is the front of said bus.
Here you go. http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/how-to-post-photos.115/ Basically you open an account(free) and upload your photos. Then you copy the link for the photo and paste it into your thread. You are going to have to get it sorted because some smart a**e will be along in a minute and post one of these
Didnt realise I had a bucket account and apologies for the novice way of linking but I hope it works!!! http://s1041.photobucket.com/user/ToneZZR/media/Cab1.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2 http://s1041.photobucket.com/user/ToneZZR/media/Front.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3 http://s1041.photobucket.com/user/ToneZZR/media/Cab2.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 http://s1041.photobucket.com/user/ToneZZR/media/Lounge.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 Ps - ignore the user name of ZZR - this account was set up when I was able to ride and username is bike I have.
There you go. Good luck with the project. I kinda like the wood finish dash and glovebox. Something a bit different.
Cheers for sorting this out, I am really unsure about the wooden bits but will have to wait until its back here and wiped with a wet rag / baby wipe to see how it comes up. Can't wait to get it here, have some custom bits to sort out but have a rough idea on how to do some bits - like the cooling for the engine and air intake for turbo, etc Recaros have already been sold / claimed and not sure what to do with the surf board table. mmmmm watch this space (when I find out how to upload pics)
@72wilma - to be fair most of the metal work has been done - 2 new rear quarters, front end, section of floor, roof strengthened - has 2 new door skins to be fitted and rear part of N/S wheel arch needs sorting then hopefully on to the other bits like ALL the electrics, etc Now I've been thinking about it whilst writing this - I'm going to need all the luck I can get so thank you!! Will definitely be on here annoying the life out of everybody with "stupid" questions and asking for help.
We love stupid questions, but have a good search through the mech and tech board, most of what you need will be there
Cool, thank you - still very green to the forum and to T2's so I will def have a look - scouring sites for a couple of T25 bits at the moment though for the T2 conversion. You may regret saying that there is a love of stupid questions - I have them in abundance!!
That sounds like a real interesting bus! I too quite like the wood type trim on the dash & glove box. Do they look factory or is it DIY do you think? I'm looking fwd to seeing your pics of the resto and reading on the history if you manage to find out more
I think the wood is factory, and the current owner says he has a stack of paperwork relating to the bus - should be an interesting read!! Will get as many pics as possible and get them posted up - will be going through a heart transplant in next few weeks.
As long as you're prepared for silly answers at times although you'll usually get a few sensible answers before the whole thing goes off track.
