Does anyone know what the bolt (at 11 o’clock) is for?

  5. Likely the tone/contact adjuster. Don't fiddle with it!

It's the adjusting/tuning screw. Use it to get the best sound out if it's not working correctly.

  7. I fiddled!
Maybe now it will sound like a fiddle.

    Thanks guys.

Drove it to work yesterday (started pretty quickly after standing for 2 or three weeks), and have just dropped him off to get the 'in-house' wiring tidied up, and all the superfluous wires removed now that I've not got a gas absorption fridge that required relays and ignition sparking etc. Now enjoying a bus ride home, after a 2 mile walk to the nearest stop from the workshop.
Another thing on the list that can be ticked off :)

Tidied up some wiring yesterday after taking it to Winchester so we could take a walk up St Catherines Hill then back into Winchester to visit Chococo , then Montezumas chocolate shops to stock up on non-corporate chocolate..

Today used it as a boatyard painters van.

  10. Is it back at Aircooled Technic?
If the stars align I could save you the 2mile walk from the bus stop when you return to collect it.

Ah thank you that would've been fab, but it's not gone there for the wiring - I've taken it back to the chap who did the engine bay tidy-up last winter (in Bournemouth) - it seemed easier to take it to the same person, and hopefully save a bit of time. Aircooled technic was great, and he did a nice job with the carbs - but it was two trains and two buses each way!

  12. Ah, gotcha. Bournemouth is beyond my limo service.
Next time it’s at Aircooled Technic let me know (hopefully it won’t need to go there) - it’s only 15mins from me.
    Hope it all goes well.

A thorough clean up, rust cure, fibreglass filler/'jam' followed by normal filler got us to the repaint part

But then my ham fisted hands caused me to be too forceful with the rubber insert tool and the new 'Claytonrite' seals split in the corners.

So I'm now sat twiddling my thumbs waiting for the new seal to arrive. Plus the camper is now back on the drive under 2 covers to prevent water ingress via the damaged seal.

Yesterday ordered a JK adjustable front suspension beam, seals, front gearshift rod with kink for clearing adjusters in it and a steering damper and some fixings.
Decided this combination would let me recreate the lowering of the twist and cut front beam, with the least welding and messing around. Other parts will be cleaned, repainted and reused.

Beam arrived today. Work will start when I have the boat back in the water, as that has a list of out of water tasks to complete by the 28th.. some cleaning and painting, and fitting some stainless plates where ropes have sawn through wooden pieces.

Strangely and randomly , my ePever solar controller blew the 25 amp fuse connecting it to the battery.

Some digging and it turned out to be this had gone short circuit. The sun was shining and it was delivering a couple of amps to the load output.

Its a very efficient MOSFET (switches 120A and is almost a perfect switch) also used in Chinese e-bike motor controllers so I ordered five for a fiver off a British eBay vendor.

Managed to find time to solder in two new MOSFETs into the ePever solar controller and its working again.

First time round with one transistor replaced it indicated a fault on the battery and if I disconnected the battery the voltage on the battery terminals went up to 35 volts, the same as the solar panels..

Found the other shorted transistor and replaced it and it burst into life when connected.

Difficult to solder because of the massive copper tracks on the PCB , needed both a hot air soldering gun and a soldering iron..

Just as well I bought a bag of 5 transistors for a fiver.

  20. I fixed Mr Golf's squeaky bottom
