Panel van rear hatches wouldn’t have originally had a window in them. It’s been cut to allow a window to be fitted which is different to a factory fitted window.

Panel van hatches are different to the factory hatches . They are basically a single skinned door which has to be cut out for a window to be fitted unlike a factory hatch which has several components welded together to make a lip .
Yours isn't a problem but the window seals are very different - I've got a panel van conversion which is why I found out !!

Ahhhhhh... thanks both - makes sense now. I've never seen a panel other than mine so don't know what's not as standard etc! No history with the van, which is such a pity.

 

Drove it to Swanage and currently drinking a very nice Malbec out in the early evening sunshine(ish).

First proper roof and gutter clean+wax in 18 months since getting it ...
so I can see where those naughty little bits of chippy rust are ...


and more importantly, as advised by @mikedjames ( ) a bit of masking and sealing action to stop water getting in as it did at Techenders
