I sought this one out just to cheer @Lord Congi up. I know he won't be able to afford or drive one for a while, but.... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/1980_lt_devon_uk/1980_lt_devon_uk.pdf
Here is a decent bit of reading from the Brands hatch motorhome show 1980. An LT camper was £12500. My first house was only £10500 a year later? http://www.devon.vwt25camper.info/J...orcaravan_Fair_Brands_Hatch_Show_ReportWM.pdf
I was looking on e bay last night and you can pick them up for a couple of grand ,what are the differences with LT 25 LT 50 LT28 etc ?looks complicated..
C As Rick says - Weight. The 28 or 31 etc signifies the Gross permitted weight fully loaded. The unladen weight is going to be significantly lower allowing for maximum pay load, they are commercial vehicles and firms liked a lower unladen weight to allow a heavier payload. less than 35 is the preferred weight for car drivers to use as a camper. Diesel TDI engines are better for fuel than the petrol.
They were sold in spain as Pegaso Ekus as well and there are still quite a few around there now as rust isn't an issue. https://es-es.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.204205069615377.45797.113796215322930&type=3 from what I gather they were just VW LTs/ MAN rebadged and sold in the spanish market. I think they only had the 6 cylinder vw engine with and without turbo. They stopped importing them in 1991.
I would happily swap my bay for that 4x4 one.. Since owning my bay the practicalities of something bigger and more reliable have become appealing.
I know mate. I did my research and couldn't believe it when while I was reading about them it came up on ebay to swap for a bay and a he threw in the bug.
That is a proper bargain I like LT's. They have all the facilities of a motorhome without being made of plastic. I think the 'modern' equivalent is the Timberland etc and they cost a fortune.
Do you remember me saying the car hire bloke at work to a pot on a mahoosive camper with expanding side - as big as a coach? It was in perfect condition and he thought he had snapped up a bargain at £8K. He sold it in an auction and got £3K for it! Like this one... I think large motor homes are very difficult to value!
