Campers that you didn't buy, essentially. Where are they now? Have you ever wondered? That's what I'm doing right now. I've been looking through the long-lost corners of my Photobucket account, at photos that I took when looking for a campervan. There are several vans that I looked at and walked away, usually because they were beyond my expertise to sort out, too much of a big job, and I wanted something that I could at least drive home, and not a 5 year restoration. Some vans I looked at but which I thought were overpriced or at the very least out of my price bracket, anyway. For example, I found this in my photobucket: Yes, yes, I know its an early, but I was interested. However there were too many rust holes, and I got scared. I didn't end up buying it, but I do know the guy who did. Ironically, the Dormobile roof in this picture is now on my van!! Here's another one that I looked at, but walked away: I don't know what happened to this, but DVLA says: So its still out there. Does this belong to anyone here? It's now white. The main reason I walked away was because this was where the engine was:
The engine was fubarred - that's why it was out. If I was looking at that today, I might have been tempted, but I was new to aircooled then (I'd had watercooled VWs previously) and it all seemed a bit daunting. It was also a panel van conversion, and well, you know.........
