The right to bear arms

  1. Once they lose the 'fear', then they might stand a chance with gun control, but until then...........they'll just keep killing each other. :(

  3. I think it goes back to the fact where you have a written constitution that becomes part of the national psyche, take the right to bear arms away, are they still American? Its so strongly hardwired into some that it has become part of 'their ' human rights'. We all know from bitter experience how national identity can become associated with the fundamentalists and the extremists. Thankfully are constitution is so patchy that it can nor be called upon to validate such weirdness ;)

  4. I've noticed a pattern it's the children that pay the price more than ever in the uk and the states the Netherlands
Is this the fault of the government or healthcare
If they had a more accessable healthcare system instead if can I aford to send my son or daughter to have treatment or have we got to be put on a six month waiting list.
More vigilante teachers trained to lookout for the first signs of depression or other mental illness.
I don't think that parents are the ones to look out for this because we are more biased to are own children

  5. We have that training for teachers in the UK, its not the easiest conversation to have with patents as you can imagine. In Liverpool the NHS spending cuts have meant that the specialist under 7s department of CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health services) has been axed. I now have to make referrals through the general service and join the waiting list. This means teenagers who are waiting for clinical assessment have to wait longer. Younger children may now not be seen for months.

  8. agree with those posts ,example> govt. set up the i.l.a. who will pay for an individual to have some agreed further tng up to value of £200 per year>so courses that were say £80 funnily enough are now £200 . tng org."s get away withit cos no one bothers to check up if i.l.a. is being ripped of , the civil servants have to meet their targets to justify their jobs, the tng. orgs well, they wanna maximise there cash imput . i ve used the i.l.a. funding twice (£400), thing is , the Govt. does not have any money as such, its the public who get ripped off, its their money.i worked in a Govt. office many many years ago, waste,? corruption? honestly , it would make your eyeballs bleed!

  11. generally i agree with you Woodyluber, thing is as an "off the streets" entrant you are taught nothing, so if you have no sell able skills ,leaving is not really an option, one of the many reasons i left, and skilled up.i could only have been sacked under 2 reasons a>get myself a crimanal record b>punch a boss>everything anything else was "dealable">we were given 2 hours paid "christmas shopping" time ! you could not make this up mate.

Got a bit off-topic, but while we're council bashing I'll join in. :)
Our local council spunked nearly £1M paying consultants to investigate if it would be a good idea to build new council offices. The reason? So they could all drive to work and park outside the office. Then they had the cheek to say they couldn't afford £300K to buy some land/lake etc that would have trippled the amount of Leisure stuff our crap city has. They picked the wrong consultants luckily who said stay put.

When our kids were little all the play parks were knackered and covered in broken glass. The ex and some mates had to form an action group and go to council meetings to sort it. The toss-pots spent over an hour aguing about what crest there should be on the new litter bins, then 5 minutes not really listening about the parks. In the end they had to shame them into action through the local paper.

These people don't live in the real world. As said above, they would rather we all live in Marmite and die than sack one of their useless mates.

  13. you will never stop the yanks from having guns for 3 reasons the size of the country with so much hunting space , the fact that its so deeply routed into there past/lifestyle it would be like telling a yorkshire man not ware a flat cap
and the fact that they are not ruled by such a health and safety obsessed mamby pamy jobs worth culture like we are in the uk fact
