Really pleased they are going to do something about it - just concerned that you pretty much never see a jam sandwich on the motorway to actually implement it.

 

Yep - that's my pet favourite hate piece of road in the UK for that (I used to live in Loughborough) - the best ones are when they then accelerate (finally) to not let you in.

Biggest problem is junctions on motorways if you stay on the inside you take the risk of being a sarny with on coming traffic barging their way on, the whole bluddee approach to driving needs to be looked at, all this brake accelorate foot hard down, ar sole driving is down right dangerous ,when i took my test the main thing we had to know was SAFE braking distance , id say 90% of road users today havnt got a clue how long it takes to stop at 30mph let alone 70 mph etc. And as for roundabout lanes and traffic lights what a laff, painted on the road, road ahead a28 in three lanes how is anyone who doesnt drive the road every day gona know which lane ta be in? let alone all the foriegn drivers just coming thru ashford. Blu dee slow down lifes not a race , have you ever been wiped out by any of these idiots , try it or better still let them try it ,maybe they MIGHT learn how ta drive carefully and with respect for others then makes me mad, yes i have been wiped out by them and am still here to tell the tale but ive had a few friends and family that arnt sadly, fines dont work and cost to much to administer and who will the police pick on if they are their to try and adminster this lot?? Sorry roads are a mess these days and the planning idiots half of them cant even drive , traffic calming , putting pavements out in one lane of the road with priority to slow people down , ban um get um of the roads and if they want ta drive fast and dangerously stick um on a stockcar track or send um ta play with that clarkson t......... Im not saying sorry for the rant , if your son or daughter gets killed by one see how you feel . Give um all a lawnmower camper that would slow um down Have a nice day drive carefully it cold be yooooo!!

 

As you speed past any car have a look at the top of the passenger side windscreen, even the unmarked cars have extra equipment mounted here. The same if some one is following you while your speeding. Oh yeah and they usually have 2 police officers sitting in them!

 

Appreciate that - but if you think about it - if you drove 10 miles on motorway you might get close enough to look at maybe 1% of all the cars going the same direction as you, and pretty much zero going the other way.

I'd say it's hard to tell how many unmarked there are - however, the sightings of genuine marked police cars on the motorways seems to be getting less and less.

 

I'm all for fining lane hogs and people that tailgate (these not so much), if this means more marked police cars then so be it, but will people please drive past these cars in a normal manner and not like they only passed their test the day before. They do tend to become a bit of a rolling bung in the road as people try to pass at not more than 71.5mph.

 

Middle lane hogs Grrrrrr (thats me being angry by the way) such a pain in the ass, the amount of times on a near empty motorway I go from left lane (THE DRIVING LANE) to the 1st overtaking lane then to the second overtaking lane, round some div then all the way back over to the driving lane in stages obviously, to then watch in the mirror as the middle lane hogger is totally oblivious to the fact that they're doing anything wrong and still they sit there.
A little educational campaign would be a very good thing.

i sit in the middle lane all the time when i'm in the car, i don't like the fast lane 'cos the bmw's bully me and the slow lane is for lorries.


that's fact.

 

inside lane should be for lorries, n stay their ,who wants to be sandwiched between them when they tail gate you, they havnt got the power if their fully loaded to overtake anyway. i agree middle lane is safer, if you want to go fast get an f1 .

The middle lane is for people who are too frightened to overtake. They shouldn't really have licences.

 

This^ and I think they think if they stay in the left lane they will get filtered off the motorway without their knowledge. I followed someone last week that pulled into lane 2 whenever he passed and exit and then back to lane 1 whenever he was passed it.
