timing setting ?

  1. 2ltr type 4 with 009 dissy and vac advance
    at idle i have been setting it at between 5 and 12 btdc

    reving the engine 28 -30 btdc with hose of and 40 btdc with the hose on

    does this sound right or am asking for trouble
     
  2. I go 8-10 ATDC on my 1700 Auto, I think you have a 1.6 manual dont you? Slightly later model? The 7.5 ATDC should be bang on for you.
     
  3. I think and someone will probably correct me but revved up I think you should be getting 32-36 ATDC.

    On a type 1 you want 7.5 BTDC at idle, vac removed and plugged, 28-30 BTDC @3000rpm.
    I think the max advance is the most important, imho.
    Not sure about type 4 but I think its the same so yours sounds right to me.

    After / Before , they're both the same??
    They're fairly different as one is clockwise from TDC, one is anti-clockwise giving you 15deg difference at idle unless my understanding is completely shot?

  11. Yep, sorry 28-32 on a 1600, think mine (according to Ash) is slightly higher.
