Back again...... Im sure you'll all appreciate what a spare cash and time vampire moving house is so the van got put on the back burner for a few months but we're in, settled and cracking on over the winter. managed to bag a glasto ticket, hopefully a not too unrealistic target I painted and built up the back end ready for the move On the move New home Give the steering box a scrub Wire brushed with new SS bolts Front beam completely removed
Removed spindles, steering rods etc The top 2 arms remain loaded, both need prised up off the stops and gently tapped with a hammer past the stops trailing arms removed Beam adjusters fitted removed remains of OG paint Treated rust with Vactan, etch the good stuff.
removed a lot of dust from one side of the beam This side looked solid but curiosity got the better of me so i cut a hole, good job i did. I removed as must dust and moisture as i could from the chambers taped up the holes at the side Mixed up a bit of bonda with thinners, sealed the chambers and sloshed it about a bit Welded in patch with drain hole ready for the top coat The shot blasters working again!! Skimmed with a coat of hi temp With the front out I was able to remove the waxol, the last of it thankfully
The inner sills of my bus never really sat right And where about 2 inches too short, i assumed that like most things you have to make them fit so made an extension piece, but it was throwing off the strengthener and C posts so cut them out again, not even sure its for a bay. Right ones fitted and look a lot better Few captive nuts for the belly pans the PO had fitted the near side arch but hadn't removed all of the old arch An absolute pig to remove, held in with more welds than the titanic!! Damian if you reading this your name was mud for about an hour or so round here.lol Thats it for another while wish you all an enjoyable festive season Tweed
@paradox thanks man, you only realise how much sh/t you've accumulated when you try to move it. Same to you bro, sorry to hear the Parabus has to go, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would of loved to see it in the flesh some day, hope the next owner appreciates what they get, take yours over an import any day
Back again with a few more pics Replaced all 4 Trailing arm ball joints Reassembled the beam, tapping out and replacing missing grease nipples Changed the steering pin, bushes had to be cut out with a hack saw blade Next up was the spindles, found the drivers side grease seal was damaged New backing plates need to be drilled to match the old Shot blasted Cleaned up New bearings Painted.
The gap between the sills was too big And needed strapped down C post and strengthener Clamped 2 bits of 14 gauge together drilled 2 holes Get the shape of the B post repair panels M6 70mm set screw to set the gap and keep level Middle piece made up and welded in Ill cover these before fitting the panels, with drain holes
seat runners removed new belt mounts welded in both sides finished Before cutting into the front I braced the A's with some 20mm box The inner is beyond repair, hopping to save the deformation.
for this lip I marked 5mm from the edge but cut the creased bits at an angle then welded in a new peice thats it for another while
Nice bus this is gonna be mine was a bit like this buddy never ending !! Keep plugging away at it !! Top work
