Hi, Finally got my Van road legal and managed to put a few miles on it. The Type 4 1800cc engine is running great and pulls really well but has a host of oil leaks. The smell of burning oil is starting to stick in the throat!! Looks like the flywheel seal is leaking quite badly so it will need to come out for that at least. Just wondering whether I should bite the bullet and get it completely stripped and built back up with a fresh set gasket set to fix the leaks especially as all else is working well. Any recommendations for someone that could do this work in the Dorset or Hampshire area? Happy to take it out and deliver it but looking for any suggestions on who to trust to strip it down and rebuild it. Cheers, Glyn.
Hi, Paul - pallet could be an option but I was ideally looking to drop it off somewhere local - if possible. Snotty - I am the Southern End - Ringwood / Bournemouth area. Anymore? G
About £1400... I can swap things around a little to make it cheaper, but that is the full works bar machining costs (crank regrind/case bore/head work)
the newness...... remember when my motor looked like that! Sure we'll discuss further at some point but may be looking for a few more ponys when I get around to it (ie have some dosh available) money currently invested in an iron oxide mine (hit a very rich vein recently)
Hey Paul, Good news - the rest of the components have turned up at my end. Weber 40 IDF kit arrived yesterday via a mate visiting the US and the SS exhaust from Ebay is also here . I am having to talk nicely with my wife to let me build the carbs up on the dining room table!! Have you been able to take any pictures of the motor being built up at your end? How is it coming together are we still on track for collection next week? Cheers, G.
Almost there dude... should have it up to a long block by the end of the day!! I'll post you up some pics tonight too!! The new powder coater knows his stuff too, tins look amazing
Wow that is looking GOOD!! Can't believe that is the same tin ware and fan housing! They are looking great. Cheers for the pictures - great to see it coming together.
