So I'm just neatening up the vans electrics and 2 cables come from the ignition that are not on the diagram. Any idea what they're for? They're the 2 blue wires heading towards the bottom of the image
Can't see them? Can't you trace them back? I don't have any blue wires? Sounds like an addition fella?
D is your ignition if its the same as mine fella. The blue on this diagram goes to the regulator. It's in German and I ain't got my book.
Is your bus a import some where fitted with extra wires for the running lights With the key the wires should be dead and with the ignition on live.
Helps if I put up the public links!. They're not on the diagram for the van: One was live and I didn't get round to testing the other. They come from the ignition and terminate as a loose cables. Perhaps they were for a radio? I don't know a huge amount about wiring in a radio but I do remember hearing that there are 2 power cables for a radio; one which is always active, and one which only receives power when the ignition is on. I'm thinking that if they're not important (can't be that important if she drives without them), I might take one of the cables and wire it into my cigarette lighter for phone charging. Any dangers in doing this? She's not an import so probably not running lights.
It sounds like you're right about the radio. Should be able to check if the other one becomes live when you switch ignition on fella?
Ah that would explain it. A replacement ignition switch! I'd already taped them outta the way. Any good reason why I couldn't use one of them for a cigarette lighter?
