There is a post on pellecan parts conserning mud flaps, about how it came about that VW stopped others making them and using the VW logo. As for the scene tax, yes, rare parts do carry an extra charge, a bit like most things that are hard to get hold of now, and many have complained when they see a part that they would like to put on there van being sold for more than they would like to pay, then call it a scene tax, the truth is, NOS parts now are in very short supply indeed, all the best stuff has been bought years ago for one reason or another. We all know that most parts, not all but most parts are usable to a point, that's why there are cheep. The whole demand for the best bits is self inflicted by our desire to make our vans as good and original as we can, and to own a part that will last.... Some will know me as one of the latter, who over the years has bought and sold NOS parts to those that need them, and yes I've put a drink on it too, why not, but to call it a scene tax I think is a bit unfair to all the guys who have put effort and time into finding these new bits for us all. I'm not having a go any anyone, it's just I've been accused of creating this so called scene tax because I put a drink on what I sell., I went to the first Van fest back in the day, and many other shows to boot, today it would make your nuts freeze to see what you could buy back then, it makes your head hurt, but to some, they bought bits, many bits, and today it's better than money in the bank if your selling them. I own a 67 bus that's been built using all the NOS bits I can find, and I've been know to bulk at the price but I still bought it because I wanted it, then had to justify it to the missus...... It's not a scene tax, it's called supply and demand, and the demand is outstripping the supply... Have a great new year to you all Ron ron@vwendangeredspecies.co.uk
I understand all that totally ,I had a stash of hard to ford rs parts from when I was into them and yes I sold them on very easily and made a buck thats just the name of the game , The flaps really it would be a waste to but nos ones on my bay ,its not a show bus just a summer fun bus with lots of characters ,if anyone has a set of the old jk ones I would be more than happy with them.
Not a VW logo but do look the correct length IMHO http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/V-W-VW-We...839794?hash=item1c78be9372:g:BvYAAOSwj85YOJVi
I bought 2 pairs and all I can say is they're awesome, they're really thick and heavy the logo is actually molded rather than affixed. of course some will think it's a frivolous expense but I'm fussy regarding quality and value value for money over cheapness. Exchanging my empi ones for these, for me will be worth every penny. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
That may be, no one said these are original, however they're tons better than my empi non originals. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Mr bubble head further up. They come from Australia! And I did a deal Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yep I've got 4 empi ones on atm hence the two pairs. If you do go for it you won't be disappointed, I've been on the hunt for heavy quality molded replacements for years and I've never found any that ticked all the boxes. They've either been Two part generic or light weight plasticky. Of course it was taking a punt buying these on here but he did a deal and tbh it was his defence of the quality that sealed the deal. I only mention it as the front brackets I do need them to be rectangular .. they do look good tho ....
Reading that I assumed you were talking about a new car or a fitted kitchen; maybe a house extension. Turns out it's about bloody mud flaps!!
