I am beginning to do a restoration on my kombi and the first section witch I am starting on is the front the a pillars are completely rusted out on the inner skin and the middle skin on the bottom and the outer skin in small areas. what would be the best approach? I will also attach some photos.
the rest of the kombi is good with only some rust on the gutters and the odd spot here and there witch is managable. i am going to change the whole front section as well because that has rusted and to get better access to the a pillars the repair.
Buy the front clip from @davidoft https://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/chopping-up-shell-chassis.91838/
ok, I found the a pillar skin from Schofields. what do i do about the internal a pillar. Do I have to cut the outer skin all out to repair the inner a pillar.
a pillar outer skin came. It does not fit nor does it have the curves or bends. The width is not even consistent with the shape of the pillar because it is supposed to get wide at the top and bottom.
The more you dig the more rot you’ll find. Buy the front clip from @davidoft and replace the lot. https://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/chopping-up-shell-chassis.91838/
ok thanks. I tried to PM him by going to his profile page and starting conversation. I really need to fix my a pillars.
I thought you asked him for the A pillar? It seems to me you need the whole front clip. @davidoft will see this.
