Westfalia Berlin Sink Tap

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by Walter, Oct 31, 2021.

  1. Hi,
Has anyone refurbished the sink tap unit on a Westfalia Berlin before (the thing below)? Mine leaks (a lot) from where the spout comes out of the base unit. I assume it just needs a new rubber seal but I can’t figure out how to get the thing apart to fit one. I’ve tried unscrewing the connections from the pump and city water hoses but they are stuck fast and I didn’t want to get too forceful and break it as I don’t believe you can buy a replacement for these. If anyone has taken one of these apart before it would be good to hear how you did it.
    Cheers,
    Jon.

The tap does come apart, as you can see from the attached photos. However, I buggered mine up by putting too much force into the brass section after getting it apart...be careful. The small round washers are the main culprit, but mine was leaking from the flat seal between the plates...

The spout just pulls out with the collar.

I've ended up putting a new plastic chrome tap and switch in, which if I'm honest works much better, but looks less than perfect!

  3. Thanks Chris, comprehensive photos. I’ll have a go at pulling the spout out of the top and see how I get on.
