What are your projects over winter?

  1. Bus ones or not........

Now my bus is pretty much done and I have at least enjoyed some use since June, my thoughts are turning to next year and what to do in readiness over winter. Here are mine.

    1. Make some kind of heat shield for the Propex so things under the rock and roll bed will not be in contact with it so I can use it without having to clear things that are sitting on or near the case.

    2. Take out the rock 'n' roll seat back and bottom, jump seat and rear load space cushion out and change the foam. Hopefully that will get rid of all the yellow foam dust that I reckon is coming from the slowly perishing originals. Put back the original Westy covers after washing them and it should be like new!

I have got Gusbus to finish off, we are getting close!
Major needs some tlc & fettling
In my spare time at work, I have got an AP series type 4 injun we are going to rebuild

  3. Need to see the T2 to work out what I want to do and what needs doing, but I understand theres one thing 'pop top needs a wee bracket as the one broke off', and I'll probably be looking for a tow bar and electrics to fit. We were talking about buying a gas heater, a new cooker, a fridge, and a sink unit, and saw an interesting pull out sofa bed in IKEA last Sunday, which seemed a better solution to the full width Rock n Roll bed that fitted currently, we'll see. It was the mechanism of the way it pulled out rather than the sofa that interested me, ha.

As regards the T3, just need a couple of bulbs and a fan belt in it toolkit, and the electric pump needs wiring/piping in for the screen washer, plus a nice new momentary switch for the dash. Other than that it needs an oil change, and the valve clearances adjusted before it gets too cold outside. Seats I'll have to live with, but all the seats and both door cards will be repaired/recovered in deer skin. Oh and the Beam Warning Lamp has failed in the dash, need to sort that too. Definitely needs a new rear bumper, plus the tow bar and electrics fitted.

The T4 needs sealant under the bonnet and rear hatch rubbers to stop leaks, needs a new battery, plus bolt for the battery clamp, a couple of window winding handles for the doors, an identical momentary switch fitted for the electric pump for the screen washer (the existing flip switch looks kind of crappy), I also need to sort the gear stick, its like a bowl of soup with gears in there somewhere, a knob for the glove box handle would be nice. Probably needs a service, so will get one next Spring. Needs a new rear bumper I think, plus the tow bar and electrics fitting. The front bumper could do with a small dent taken out of it, so will have to come off. Also needs a small patch welded to the leading edge of the spare wheel well.

I've had permission to finish off kitting out my shed, for home brew, video editing, and Amateur Radio, woo hoo.

  8. A number of upgrades are planned over the winter:

Bodywork, replace all doors and roof with carbon fibre panels, all glass with plexiglass.
Engine, replace 1600tp with 2.7 flat six and gearbox sourced from 911T.
Suspension, transfer complete hydro pneumatic LHM system from a CX I have acquired.
Brakes, upgrade to ceramic disc all round, powered by system, above.
Interior, all cupboards to be replaced by lightweight cardboard copies, fit Marshall 10,000 watt sound system,
Replace head unit with modified Hammond C3 and fit dual zone air conditioning and underfloor Jakuzzi.

    That'll quieten down Mrs. Fishtrousers.
