What order to do things in

  1. Hi all,

I am ready to start the interior on my van now and could do with advice on what order to do things in. I need to do the following:

Leisure battery, hook up & internal wiring for lighting
    Build furniture / install furniture
    Door cards all round
    Head lining
Buy / fix in place rock n roll bed
Renew roof bellows and re-spray GRP roof inside and out
    Flooring
    Re spray dash

  2. I'd start with a cup of tea.

(sorry - not in the slightest bit helpful ...)

  3. Already had several today whilst designing the new furniture and mocking it up inside the van....

  4. I would do it in the following order:
    Pop top
    Dash
    Roof lining
Door cards/ electrics part way dependent on interior cabinets
Flooring/bed dependent in if you want floor to go under bed
    Cabinets
    Finish electrics

  5. Yes, like this. Consider lighting when doing roof lining and think about all 12V so the same lights run off the leisure battery and the mains converter.

  7. I'd do as above, but depending upon on your intended layout, I'd figure out where you're cables will need to run to a from first, then install some conduit/tunking around the perimeter of the bare floor, then install insulation and sub-floor (ply or whatever) to accomodate the trunking...basically, you end up with a very easy way to install further electrical equipment in the future, without having to take units out....

  8. Just out if interest, why pop top first?

  9. Painting is bodywork, do that and get it fitted before starting inside.

  10. If nothing's in the van makes easier fitting as no chance of scratching the new floor or slipping and ripping the new headliner, and it also depends where you want to take your headlining too. If Devon you'll want to do headliner before fitting roof as the brackets screw through it.
