What paint for painting fan housing?

  1. Sorry, but stupid question of the day!

I'm going to be removing the fan housing from my Type 4 engine in the near future in order to do some other jobs and figured I should give it a clean up and paint while I have it out.

Do I need to be using a high temperature resistant paint on it, some other specific type of paint, or will any old paint do?

    Thanks.

    Nick...

  2. I used rustoleum, which is not heat resistant specifically, but has been fine.i I did the whole engine. Bay in the stuff

  4. Try "Alumablast" from Frost - looks lovely on mine!

  5. Thanks for your feedback everyone.

I like the look of that Alumblast as need a simple good looking solution - so thanks Grazzer :)

  6. You don't really need hi-temp paint. It doesn't get really hot.

  7. Thanks snotty - good to get comfirmation on that :)

  8. As @snotty said, it gets hot, but not that hot...

I give my ones a etch prime, and a coat of base coat... looks a little tidier than the bare ally!!

  9. Thanks Paul :)
